I usually say something along the lines of, "the broadcast and brochure address leaving over guilt, anxiety, or some personal issue. But I left for matters of conscience, not any of those things."

This guy is a member of the governing body. You know.....the "guardians of doctrine" by their own mouth. the faithful and discreet slave. The "skirt of a Jew" that you must grab on to.
And yet to me....he sounds like a A-hole.

Elders don't distinguish between the two. That video is interesting, because they basically make the person playing the part of a repentant person, look like an idiot. A lying idiot.
I think most elders going into a committee meeting, with the exception of a few kind hearted people that don't allow full indoctrination, with the intent to lay down the law. I mean.....they didn't get all dressed up NOT to dance. Know what I mean?

Guys the WT is not in serious financial hardship. They may not be where they want to be, but they horde cash and are very conservative, which is good for them financially.
Enough is never enough, and that strategy helps them when there is actually not enough. this could not be a better investment turn around for the branch. they are selling at the top of the market, when Brooklyn has completely revitalized.
To those who may think "well what about the law suits, molestation, etc...".....this is simply not big enough to seriously dent them. For example, i know there are three firms that currently in the US handle their law suits portfolio (non-JW). If each one of them bills 100K a month currently, we are still only looking at 3.6 million for the year. Plus maybe another 5 for out of court settlements. that is about 1% of the sale of this ONE building complex.

For the Supporters of Those Who Love Jehovah
by lovesjehovah ini am jehovah's witness, despite some of the questionable teachings, crimes, and other outlandish behaviors of specific people affiliated with the religion.
i know that my relationship with jehovah is not influenced by any outside factors.
i do not condone any crime.

Hi LJ,
So I can appreciate that your post is harmless, and you knew you would rile people up. No worries. I certainly don't care what people believe one way or the other in the sense that i don't judge what others hold dear. Interestingly, the only time I did.....was when I was one of Jehovahs witnesses.
But since you have started a conversation here, let me offer a gentle perspective and duggestion based on your comments thus far.
I think you are a bit narcissistic. I mean this with respect of course. What you have detailed is that through your interpretation of specific experiences that God miraculously caused things to happen to answer your prayers, thoughts or comments. One of these things.....while you were high. Yet the same creator that decided to stop the rain to show you he exists, or made the moonlight dance to help you prove a point, allowed 2000 children 2 and under to die today.
That is simply not a thought that can be tolerated by a logical mind. The concept of arranging even the minutia of a day to somehow cater to your particular thought or query at the moment you have it, while not using that power to save actual life........that is you being narcissistic. Once again, I don't mean that as an insult, but with respect so you can consider what it actually sounds like.
Another example of your narcisism is how you justify scripturally your homosexuality by stating things have been taken out of the bible. And lo.....the part taken out I can only assume, is the part that makes homosexuality cool.....and not the horrific sin that you could be stoned for and would cost you everlasting life that the bible in its current incarnation teaches. That could simply be used to say absolutely anything anyone wanted! There is no limit!
So your personal experiences are your own. Nobody can argue with you. Being here is not some evil waste of time as you present it. Much support and comfort to those transitioning out of a religion that has a communal shunning program for anyone found to be a problem for it is a noble cause. You chose to live an inauthentic life for your own personal reasons. that has less nobility than those that chose not to in my opinion.
That being said, I would welcome a conversation about why you think the religion of jehovahs witnesses is salvageable. Could be an interesting discussion and I would certainly keep it civil.
As far as active JW's, the only ones you will find here, are those working up the courage to leave, or being held captive. Sorry but that is the reality.
Peace.
His invisible qualities are clearly seen from his creation. My lifes experiences are proof of His existence. I have seen some things that only He could contribute to. I will not post all of my experiences here because people will just think I'm lying or hallucinating. But Jah is real. My life's work is to help bring peace to this world, I believe we all can.

Are Jehovah’s Winesses “Fundamentalists” and “Fanatics”?
by EdenOne inrecently ive posted on fb a meme where a two pairs of hands held open a bible and the quram side by side.
then i wrote on it:.
(faith + fundamentalism) x (hate + propaganda) = legitimation of intolerance and violence.

Glad you decided to stick around.
JW's live in the bubble. Every problem they see is somehow directly related to those people not associating with Gods sprit directed organization. This teaching in and of itself considering its history is fanatical enough. JW's will point to the fact they do not encourage violence or join military service as setting them apart. But sweeping prohibitions on blood in its various reincarnations have to date killed more people than ISIS has. That is certain even with an exact number in dispute.
But JW's fail to see the irony in denouncing other peoples extremism. It several incarnations.
"We love you so much that it hurts us to have to cut you off. You just can't imagine how painful it is."
"Shameful that the Catholic church would protect abusers in their ranks"
"We value God given life and remain obedient, which is why we would die if a blood transfusion was needed."
Its all in the same vein as far as I'm concerned.

Mass Mormon Resignation
by problemaddict 2 inhttp://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2015/11/16/456224955/more-than-1-000-mormons-resign-from-the-lds-church-in-protest.
if you consider what triggered this, the policy itself is benign compared to jw doctrine.
while mormons practice shunning, it isn't nearly as absolute as it is with jw.s.

If you consider what triggered this, the policy itself is benign compared to JW doctrine. I wonder if anything like this is actually possible? While Mormons practice shunning, it isn't nearly as absolute as it is with JW.s
Thoughts?

What would happen ??
by Clambake inthere is a certain elder in my wives hall that has seemed to developed a real interest her.
first he seemed to feel a need to make sure all her blood cards were signed before she gave birth to our child.. he sends her text messages if she misses a meeting saying how much " we missed you last night ".
he finally sent her a text wondering where her oct hours were , knowing she had some pretty serious tears from child birth and could hardly even walk, much less do field service ".

Calmbake,
If you want to get a pound of flesh, make it a big deal.
I personally would do the following, in the most kind and gentle manner possible.
Call him and get him on the line. Tie in another elder from the hall as a witness. Then explain very kindly that his private texts to his wife are not welcome. You know he doesn't mean anything bad etc... but that you would like them to stop. It will embarrass him, you don't come off as a lunatic, and you can even bring up that section of the elders manual already shared. Be super kind. it will stop, and put him on notice that you are no dummy.
